This book is written by a 12-year-old girl to raise awareness about the impact of fireworks on our furry friends—the fear they experience, the distressing thoughts that race through their minds, and the lasting harm these loud sounds can inflict on their well-being.

She was deeply moved to learn that in the UK, around five and a half million dogs are subjected to unnecessary fear and anxiety caused by fireworks. Through this book, she hopes to inspire readers to reflect on this issue, promote kindness towards pets and animals, and take steps to resolve the problem.

Told from a dog’s perspective, this heartwarming story sheds light on the fears and emotions pets endure during firework displays. It’s a touching tale of friendship between a dog and a little girl, making it an excellent bedtime read for children.

All proceeds from the book will be donated to Aanya's chosen charity, Stokenchurch Dog Rescue. By purchasing a copy, you’re directly supporting this cause and helping make a difference for animals in need.

  • I highly recommend this book to all young readers and in fact to all audiences.

I highly recommend this book to all young readers and in fact to all audiences. It has been beautifully illustrated and has it could be read alone by a competent young reader or would be a fantastic story to read together as a family to share the lovely illustrations and discuss the message of the story, whilst being entertained by the events of Maisie’s birthday and the way that they impact her dog, Barney. It would be wonderful if every parent in the land could read this story to their children to raise awareness about how fireworks affect their pets and other creatures.
